Improving safety for forklift operations

Safety is a key WesTrac value and improving the safety of forklift operations is high on our priority list. Our warehouses stock over 75,000 product lines of Cat parts and are operational 24/7, with forklifts being one of the critical components needed to keep everything on track. While getting parts picked, packed and delivered to our customers with efficiency is important, nothing trumps the safety of our people on the floor.
WesTrac has partnered with Unearthed Solutions to launch the 2019 #LiftMeUp Forklift Challenge. The goal of this challenge is to either identify ready-to-use systems in the market or develop and provide solutions that help mitigate incidents related to forklifts that are involved in loading and unloading inventory onto racks.
Forklifts are used in multiple global industries - construction, mining, transport and logistics, to name a few. OSHA statistics indicate that there are roughly 85 fatalities and 34,900 serious injuries each year related to forklifts. This challenge aims to unearth one or more solutions to mitigate and lower those numbers.
The #LiftMeUp challenge invites companies and individuals from around the world to help Unearthed and WesTrac provide a safer work environment for everyone who works with or around forklifts.
You can enter the challenge even if you don't work in an industry that utilises forklifts. If you've got a good idea for a solution, we want to hear it.
Show us how your solution can impact operations and you'll get support to scale your idea globally.
In addition to AU$10,000 prize money, this competition provides the opportunity to establish a commercial relationship with WesTrac. The Lift Me Up challenge runs for 6 weeks until 4 September 2019.
