WHY DID YOU WANT TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AT WESTRAC?

You can become a 'run of the mill' mechanic anywhere but you become an exceptional mechanic at WesTrac. That's the main reason I wanted to start my career and pursue my apprenticeship at WesTrac. WesTrac sells, maintains, repairs and rebuilds Cat equipment. This will give me the experience and knowledge I need to have the flexibility to work anywhere in the world on Cat machinery.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE APPRENTICE PROGRAM?

I'm looking forward to being trained to work on a wide range of equipment, from compact track loaders to off-highway trucks. I'm excited to learn about all of the up-to-date technology and become proficient in using it. I'm also eager to work with and alongside mechanics who have decades of experience and knowledge that they'll pass onto me.

WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING THING YOU HAVE LEARNED SINCE STARTING THE PROGRAM?

I was fascinated by the fact I could look up an equipment part on the computer and instantly see the quantity in stock at each dealership across NSW. With a few more clicks, I could get the part to Tamworth within 1-2 days.

IF YOU COULD GIVE FUTURE APPRENTICES ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Don't ever stop asking questions.
