Operating your machine

Your latest Cat machine might be a bit different to what you are used to, which means you’re bound to have questions about operating it to gain the best advantage.

Q: Where is the best place to go for information about my machine?

A: Your operation and maintenance manual (or OMM for short) is located behind the driver’s seat and contains a wealth of information. It’s your guide to understanding service interval hours, working load limits, transport specifications, how to use features… you name it, it’s in there.

Q: My machine is driving slowly - is it broken?

A: Are you operating with creep control? Creep control allows you to work more accurately at a predetermined speed while maintaining full joystick movement and hydraulic power to your attachments. For more information on Creep Control click here.

If you think there’s a different issue, contact your local WesTrac branch.

Q: How do I set that self-leveling thing again?

A: You can enable this feature by flicking the switch in the top left-hand side of the cab of your Skiddie or Compact track loader. To learn how, watch the Cat video here.

Q: How do I turn on continuous flow?

A: Watch the Cat video here

Q: How do I turn on blade float?

A: Watch this video to learn how to activate blade float both in the traditional operator style and while using Stick Steer mode, in Next Gen Cat Mini Excavators

Q: Where do I get extra grease and which is the right one for my machine?

A: Follow these simple steps to ensure your machine is properly greased and operating at peak performance.

  • Step 1: You can order grease (and any other part) through Parts.Cat.Com
  • Step 2: Enter your machine serial number to find the grease that’s right for you

Q: Do you have a DIY option available?
