Caterpillar JobsWesTrac is one of the largest employers and trainers of apprentices in the country with over 500 apprentices employed at any one time.  All of our apprentices undergo a comprehensive and thorough apprenticeship training program either at the WesTrac Institute (WA) or at selected Training WA or TAFE NSW institutions. 

The quality of our training is often reflected in the demand for our qualified apprentices, with recruited apprentices usually being offered positions within the company at the conclusion of their apprenticeship.

Our apprenticeship programs are structured around nationally recognised training qualifications.

The apprenticeship duration in WA is 3.5 years. WesTrac offer the following apprenticeships in various locations across WA:

  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (Mobile Equipment).
  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (Road Transport).
  • Automotive Electricians.
  • Power Generation Electicians
  • Boilermaker Welders
  • 1st Class Machinists


New South Wales / ACT

2017 Apprentice Program NSW

WesTrac are offering Apprenticeships in 2017 at various locations throughout the state. Opportunities will be available across New South Wales to gain a Certificate III in;

  • Automotive Electrical Technology (Hunter Valley)
  • Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Hunter Valley)
  • Mobile Plant Technology (Bathurst, Canberra, Cobar, Dubbo, Hunter Valley, Grafton, Newcastle, Parramatta, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga)
  • Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (Newcastle)

Mature age applicants and apprentices entering the 2nd or 3rd year of their apprenticeship are welcome to apply.

As the successful applicant you will have a strong work ethic, have proven ability to work in a team, display strong communication skills and problem solving capabilities.
