First Class Machinist Apprenticeship

A Machinist sets up and operates machine tools to shape and form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances, using detailed drawings and specifications. At WesTrac this would include machining, assembly and manufacturing CNC, precision grinding, horizontal boring and precision measurement, installation and modification of machinery testing and fault finding of machinery.

School requirements

  • School Leaver - OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8
  • Non-School Leaver - C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent
  • AQF - Certificate I or Certificate II

Pre-Apprenticeship

Certificate II in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter and Machinist Pre-Apprenticeship)

Qualification

MEM30205: Engineering - Mechanical Trade (First Class Machinist, Fitter Machinist, Fabrication)
