Following his outstanding performance at the NSW State Final of the Cat® Global Operator Challenge hosted at WesTrac, Daracon Plant Operator Tim Lamb is set to represent the Hunter in Japan at the Asia Pacific Regional Semi-Final, taking place on 29-30 October, 2025.

As the reigning NSW Champion, Tim’s precision, speed and technical excellence in Cat machinery has earned his place among the best of the best in the competition from across the Asia Pacific region. His upcoming appearance in Japan marks the next stage in an incredible journey that could potentially progress him to the world finals held at ConExpo Las Vegas in 2026.

“I am truly honoured to represent Daracon Group, WesTrac, and all New South Wales operators at this level,” said Tim.

“I am so proud to be part of a company that invests in its operators and I’m excited to take on whatever Japan has to throw my way!” he said.

The Cat Global Operator Challenge brings together the most skilled machine operators from around the world to compete in a series of demanding tasks that push their equipment knowledge, operating precision and safety focus to the limit.

Daracon Group Plant & Transport Divisional Manager Cory Hay has expressed how incredibly proud the company is of Tim’s achievement and upcoming adventure.

“Tim’s dedication, technical ability and operational excellence is what sets him apart in this competition”, said Cory.

“Tim’s success is a reflection of the ethos Daracon was founded on – we set out over 40 years ago to have the best people and the best equipment,” he said.

WesTrac, the official Cat dealer for New South Wales and proud host of the NSW State Final, played a key role in delivering a world-class event that showcased the region’s top operator talent.

“We’re thrilled to see Tim Lamb take his skills to the international stage,” said Jason Hall, General Manager – Construction Industries at WesTrac.

“The Global Operator Challenge is all about celebrating excellence in machine operation, and Tim’s performance is a testament to the strength of operators we see across NSW. We’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.”
