nsw Plant Mechanic apprenticeship 2026

Plant Mechanics diagnose and repair drivelines, drive assemblies, engines, suspension, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, steering, wiring and circuits and controlling systems. This includes building, diagnosing and repairing the full range of Cat Fleet.

Plant Mechanic apprentices are given the opportunity to opt into a Dual Trade on completion of their apprenticeship.

NSW FITTER MACHINIST APPRENTICESHIP 2026

A Fitter and Machinist manufactures, repairs, and fits metal components for production machines and other equipment. They use a range of tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical plant machinery and equipment to operational standards. This includes the disassembly and assembly of Cat components, hydraulic systems, precision measurement, diagnosis/fault finding, lathe operation, horizontal boring and milling machine operation.

This apprenticeship is only available at WesTrac Tomago.

NSW INDUSTRIAL SPRAY PAINTER APPRENTICESHIP 2026

Industrial Spray Painters specialise in the operation of painting equipment to spray components with paint or industrial coatings such as powder coating or rust proofing. As an Industrial Spray Painter with WesTrac, you will be exposed to both newly commissioned and rebuilt components throughout our workshops.

This apprenticeship is only available at WesTrac Tomago.

NSW AUTO ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICESHIP 2026

Auto Electricians specialise in the electrical systems and components of all types of vehicles. You might expect an Auto Electrician to work only on passenger cars, but they can also work on trucks, farming vehicles, and construction vehicles among many others. At WesTrac, Auto Electricians are exposed to a wide variety of machinery within the mining and construction industry.

This apprenticeship is only available at WesTrac Tomago and Mt Thorley branches.

NSW BOILERMAKER APPRENTICESHIP 2026

Fabricators (Boilermakers) cut, shape, assemble and weld steel to construct and repair metal products and structures. At WesTrac this includes the fabrication, repairs and maintenance on a wide-range of Cat equipment, including; buckets, trays, booms track frames, hand rails, ladders, platforms, kick rails, steps and weld brackets.

This apprenticeship is only available at WesTrac Tomago and Mt Thorley branches.

You’ll be required to submit a resume/CV as part of your application.

If you’re selected as a potential candidate, you’ll be interviewed and may be invited for pre-employment checks. Successful applicants will be sent a formal offer, with unsuccessful candidates also being notified.
