WesTrac prep for the 2026 MACA Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins
For many, the MACA Cancer 200 is about supporting a cause that has impacted countless lives. A record number of 47 riders will pedal to the metal in support of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, making it WesTrac’s largest team yet.
What fuels WesTrac riders?
Some are riding in memory of loved ones, others in support of family and friends. For Mining Customer Support Manager, and the Team WesTrac Captain, John Power, the motivation is about trying to make a difference.
Celebrating 45 years at WesTrac and 10 years riding for the cause John says, “Cancer has touched the lives of so many of our team members, families, friends, customers and suppliers,”
“Supporting the MACA Cancer 200 gives us an opportunity to contribute to life-changing research while bringing people together for a common cause.”
Over the years, Team WesTrac has grown from a small group of passionate cyclists into one of the event’s Top 10 fundraising teams. Beyond fielding our own team, WesTrac is also proud to be a major sponsor of the event and supporting the Welcome Back function.
Stronger together
“We are focused on creating awareness, encouraging participation and making 2026 our most successful year yet,” Jon says, “both on the fundraising front and in terms of team involvement.”
Participation continues to increase every year, and the ongoing backing from supporters creates the spirit and momentum that carries Team WesTrac across the finish line. Off the bike, that same spirit extends into our fundraising activities and the relationships we’ve built.
MACA 200 throughout the years
More than business partners
This year, Team WesTrac’s 47 riders have been supported by a network of team members, customers, suppliers and sponsors who share a commitment to helping create better outcomes for families affected by cancer.
Among those supporters is long-term Platinum sponsor BreatheSafe whose backing continues to play a vital role in helping the team achieve its fundraising goals.
“Our founder Nick Johnstone and the BreatheSafe team have had a long association with WesTrac, working on providing respirable dust prevention for operators and heavy machinery,” says Kelvin Wright, BreatheSafe Business Development Manager.
“When the opportunity came to get behind Team WesTrac and support the MACA Cancer 200, Nick was keen to support the team and the incredible work of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.”
