WesTrac’s Levi Quinton smashes Telethon fundraising goal with Everest equivalent climb

WA-based WesTrac team member Levi Quinton has successfully climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest on a StairMaster machine during Telethon weekend, raising close to $80,000 for sick children in need with the support of WesTrac.

In a remarkable display of determination, endurance and community spirit, Levi climbed roughly 2,950 apartment floors to match the elevation of the world’s highest mountain, pushing through hours of physical and mental fatigue while inspiring an outpouring of support from colleagues, friends, family members and the broader community.

Originally setting out to raise $1 for every floor he climbed, Levi personally raised $3,013 through his Telethon Challenge.

This was further supported by the $50,000 donated by WesTrac, along with a surprise personal donation of $29,500, bringing the fundraising total to $79,500.

While reaching the virtual summit was a significant personal achievement, Levi said the challenge had always been about making a difference for others.

“Receiving support from the community and seeing donations roll in before, during and even after the climb was incredible,” he said.

“There were definitely some tough moments, but knowing the money goes towards such an important cause kept me marching up those stairs.

“I’ve watched Telethon for as long as I can remember. It’s such a big part of life for so many Western Australians and it feels incredibly rewarding to contribute in a meaningful way.”

Months of preparation went into the challenge, with Levi training five to six days a week while balancing work commitments and preparing for another endurance event later this year.

“Funds raised will help improve the lives of children and families doing it tough, and that’s what made every step worthwhile,” Levi said.

WesTrac Chief Executive Officer Jarvas Croome praised Levi’s extraordinary commitment to supporting the community.

“Levi’s achievement is an extraordinary example of the determination, resilience and community spirit we see across our WesTrac team every day,” Jarvas said.

“To not only complete a challenge of this magnitude but also exceed his fundraising goal for Telethon is something everyone at WesTrac is incredibly proud of.

“Levi has raised vital funds for an incredible cause, while also inspiring others to get involved and make a difference in their communities. He should be immensely proud of what he has achieved.”

WesTrac’s donation matching initiative helped amplify the community’s generosity, doubling the impact of contributions made in support of Levi’s challenge. The effort builds on WesTrac’s long-standing support of Telethon, having contributed more than $500,000 over the past 11 years.

The final fundraising total of $79,500 will help support the vital work of the Telethon Institute and improve outcomes for the children and families who benefit from its research and programs.
