A Century in the Making: FTX and the Power of Caterpillar Legacy
Written by Tom Campbell, Managing Director Final Trim Excavations
Being the first in NSW to receive the Centennial Grey Cat machine was a moment of pride and excitement. It felt like stepping into history. Caterpillar has been a cornerstone of so many projects I’ve worked on, and this special edition machine isn’t just a piece of equipment — it’s a symbol of progress and the legacy we’re helping to build.
From the moment I heard about the limited-edition release, I knew I wanted one. I’ve always aimed for my fleet to stand out, and this machine is a lasting part of my journey in the industry.
It’s more than just aesthetics — it’s about making a statement.
I’ve been a loyal Cat customer for years, and it’s the people behind the brand that keep me coming back. From sales reps to service technicians, the support has always been exceptional. They’ve helped keep my business running smoothly and reliably, which allows me to deliver confidently for my clients.
Caterpillar’s strength over the past 100 years comes down to performance, reliability, and unmatched after-sales service. The Centennial Grey limited-edition machines perfectly reflect that legacy — the design pays tribute to where the brand started, while showcasing how far it’s come.
Looking back on the history I’ve had with Cat equipment, one standout moment for FTX was in 2018 when we introduced a Black Cat 12M Motor Grader into Australia. It turned heads and made a statement — drivers slowed down just to take a look.
That machine didn’t just perform; it elevated our presence and showed how Caterpillar combines power with prestige.
On our sites, the Cat brand gives both our team and clients confidence. It signals quality, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence. Clients know we’re serious about delivering results with equipment that’s proven to perform.
WesTrac has been a key partner in our journey. They’ve helped us choose the right machines and kept them running with minimal downtime.
WesTrac’s support has been instrumental in our growth.
Looking ahead, we’ll continue evolving with Caterpillar’s innovations—adopting new technologies that boost productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. Just as Caterpillar has adapted over the past century, we’ll keep growing with them to stay ahead in the industry.
To Caterpillar on its 100th anniversary: Thank you for a century of performance. Congratulations on building an iconic brand that’s recognised worldwide. I’m proud to be part of the Caterpillar journey.
