For over 25 years, Coverley Excavations has been a trusted name in earthmoving across the Peel region of Western Australia. Recently, they added a new powerhouse to their fleet—the Cat 305 Mini Excavator.
Paddy, the owner and operator of Coverley Excavations, explained that the Cat 305 was the ideal choice for his diverse workload.
“Out of all the mini excavators on the market, the Cat 305 suits my work the best. It allows me to load trucks, trench, lift tanks, and access tight areas with ease.”
The machine’s versatility has proven invaluable on job sites where space is limited but performance is non-negotiable. One feature that particularly impressed Paddy was the stick steer and cruise control function.
“I was surprised by how useful cruise control was for tracking distances. The operator doesn’t have to hold the controls, and the machine tracks straight. I also like the fact that in stick steer mode – blade control can be activated on the right joystick giving the operator control of the blade whilst in cruise control and allowing accurate final trim. Also level markers on the screen show when the machine is perfectly level” he noted.
This innovation has made long-distance tracking more efficient and less physically demanding, enhancing productivity on the job.

“250-hour engine servicing and genuine Cat parts have kept my machines running strong,” he said.
