Questions

1. What makes the Cat D11 XE different from a standard D11 dozer?

The Cat D11 XE uses an advanced electric drive system instead of a traditional mechanical drivetrain. This enables continuous power to the ground, improved manoeuvrability, enhanced efficiency and lower operating costs in demanding mining applications. Caterpillar also targets a lower cost per tonne compared to conventional dozing solutions.

2. Is the Cat D11 XE fully electric?

No. The Cat D11 XE is not a battery-electric large dozer. It uses a diesel engine paired with an electric drive powertrain, leveraging Caterpillar’s electric drive technology to improve efficiency, productivity and fuel consumption while maintaining the performance required for large-scale mining operations.

3. What are the productivity benefits of the Cat D11 XE?

The D11 XE is designed to deliver constant power to the ground, faster cycle times, continuous pushing performance and improved fuel efficiency. These benefits help mining operations move more material while reducing the overall cost of production.

4. Can the Cat D11 XE use autonomous or remote operation technology?

Yes. The D11 XE is built on Caterpillar’s latest electronics architecture and is designed to integrate with Cat MineStar™ Command for Dozing. This enables remote operation and supports semi-autonomous dozing capabilities, helping improve safety and operational efficiency on mine sites.
