WesTrac teams up with Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW

In August, WesTrac was proud to support Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW as part of our ongoing commitment to the communities where we live and work.

Through a range of volunteering, sponsorship and fundraising initiatives, WesTrac team members helped families stay close to the care they need and the people who matter most.

Community involvement is a key part of life at WesTrac. Across our branches and sites, team members regularly contribute their time, skills and resources to causes that make a meaningful difference. Partnerships like Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW give our team opportunities to connect with their communities and support families facing challenging circumstances.

About the August Pledge Partner program

Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW partners with a different organisation each month through its Pledge Partner program. As the August 2026 Pledge Partner, WesTrac took on the Pantry Partner sponsorship while team members volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, supporting the services and programs that help families during their stay. The partnership reflects WesTrac’s commitment to creating opportunities for employees to give back and make a positive impact in their local communities.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of this partnership was seeing our people come together to support such an important cause,” says Group Manager Health Safety and Environment, Richard Clement.

The Newcastle and Tamworth Houses provide accommodation and practical support for more than 600 families each year, easing the pressure of travel, hospital visits and extended time away from home, and helping families stay close to their child during treatment.

“Being able to contribute to the work of Ronald McDonald House was a privilege and aligns strongly with our values as an organisation, Richard says.

WesTrac and Cooking Meals with Heart

Meals from the Heart is a volunteer program that prepares and serves fresh meals for families staying at Ronald McDonald House. Throughout August, teams from across WesTrac rolled up their sleeves to provide direct support for families staying at the House. Each team came together to plan menus and jump into the kitchen, bringing fresh food, comfort and a sense of normal routine to families during an incredibly difficult time.

WesTrac also helped stock the House Pantry with essential food and grocery items, ensuring families had access to everyday staples when they need them most. For families spending long days focused on a child’s care, having home-cooked meals and pantry essentials readily available helped ease some of the practical pressures of being away from home.

For many team members, the experience was about more than volunteering. It was opportunity to support local families, strengthen community connections.

Golf Day for a Great Cause

As part of our broader support, WesTrac also sponsored the recent Ronald McDonald House Tamworth Charity Golf Day. Team members were out in full swing, joining in the action on the course. Not only did they bring plenty of energy, but they helped raise visibility to an event that supported families who rely on Ronald McDonald House when they need it most.

Golf days like this are more than a chance to get together, they help keep the spotlight on the practical support families need when they are far from home and facing serious illness.

Raise Love Charity Ball

WesTrac team members also supported the Raise Love Charity Ball; a community event aimed at help families stay close when they need each other most.

The event raised an incredible $264,000, providing 1,389 nights of accommodation and support helping ease some of the challenges families face while supporting a child through treatment. Ronald McDonald House expressed its thanks for WesTrac’s generosity, partnership and belief in its mission.

“Whether through volunteering, fundraising or sponsorship, our teams understand the positive impact even small acts of support can have on families facing difficult circumstances,” Richard explains.

The message from the night was clear: when families are facing the unimaginable, being close to their child and supported by a caring community can mean everything.
