WesTrac launches recruitment drive to maintain essential services

While many companies have been forced to stand down workers in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, leading Caterpillar® dealer WesTrac Pty Ltd is in the market for skilled workers to fill a range of roles.

The company is seeking to fill 250 WA-based mechanical and electrical roles with FIFO and residential options available.

WesTrac General Manager People and Culture Tanya Eales said the roles were to support a range of essential services to mining and resources clients throughout WA.

“We’re focused on providing essential services to support key industries and need a large team of skilled people to do that,” Ms Eales said.

“It’s a great opportunity for anyone with the appropriate skills who has recently become unemployed, been stood down or is looking for a change.

“A trade certificate is not necessary if people have a suitable level of experience working in relevant mechanical roles, or auto electrical and electrical technician positions. We have three, six and 12-month contract opportunities available.”

WesTrac CEO Jarvas Croome said while there were some logistical challenges operating in the current climate, WesTrac remained open for business, was still selling machinery and parts, and continuing to service equipment.

“We’ve implemented necessary safety measures and are working closely with customers to ensure all requirements are adhered to when it comes to movement of people and equipment,” Mr Croome said.

“Also, given the recent border closures in WA, for logistical reasons we’re focusing on recruiting people already resident in the State.

“Although the initial contract terms are fixed, WesTrac remains committed to offering long-term career opportunities.

“With ongoing training and development available for the right people, there are some exciting prospects for anyone looking for job security in these challenging times.”

The roles are advertised on the WesTrac website at westrac.com.au/careers.
