Bengalla partner with McGrath Foundation for breast care awareness (2020)

Bengalla Mining Company (Bengalla) has celebrated the receipt of a Cat D11T Track Type Tractor that was painted pink by WesTrac, in partnership with the McGrath Foundation, to raise awareness for breast care. In addition to generating awareness, funds were raised for the foundation on-site through BBQ breakfasts, raffle items donated by suppliers and generous donations from Bengalla employees. Several companies were involved in seeing this project through to completion including:

• PPG who supplied the paint;
• WesTrac who completed the work needed to get it ready for site and donated Cat merchandise as raffle prizes;
• Trick Group who provided the signs; and
• The Chop Shop who provided the produce for the BBQs.

In all, $10,000 was raised for the McGrath Foundation and presented to them by Warwick Gloster, the Maintenance Manager at Bengalla. These funds are going to assist with the foundation’s ongoing important work with breast care nurses. The cheque was accepted on their behalf by Bengalla Operator Kristy Newton, who has previously been a recipient of the benefits provided by the McGrath Foundation.

Painting machines for a purpose

Over the last decade WesTrac has seen an increase in customers painting Cat machines all kinds of colours with the goal of raising funds and awareness for charities. These positive initiatives typically form part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, i.e. conducting business in an ethical way that results in a positive social, economic and environmental impact.

Our paint shop is one of the largest in Australia and is capable of painting any machine (regardless of make), any colour. With years of experience, and the latest facilities, our highly skilled technicians regularly paint both new and used machines. Just recently in 2019 we painted a Cat D11T Dozer blue for another customer to help them raise awareness for men’s health. This service helps our customers to enact positive change in the community – something we care strongly about.
